Major IBM announcements System Storage in Montpellier 8/9-2008
IBM announced on 8 September 2008 its largest ever launch of new storage hardware, software and services that are the building blocks for the world?s strongest information infrastructure portfolio. The new information infrastructure is designed to tackle massive growth and mobility of data, skyrocketing energy costs, security concerns and more demanding consumers. IBM's new technologies and services are part of a $2 billion dollar investment, a key acquisition strategy and the collaboration of more than 2,500 researchers and developers from nine different countries.
The launch was made simultaneously in New York, Tokyo and Montpellier on the first day of the IBM System Storage and Storage Networking Technical Symposium, held in partnership with GSE. The full breadth of the September 8 announcements leverages this conference, where the 30+ new and enhanced products and services in the IBM Information Infrastructure are being introduced.
Bob Halem, Program Director, IBM Storage Briefing Center, welcomed the delegates to the conference. The keynote speakers in Montpellier included Jim Stallings, General Manager, IBM Enterprise Systems Division, giving an overview on The New Enterprise Data Center, and Andy Monshaw, General Manager, IBM System Storage, with his presentation on the IBM Information Infrastructure with a summary of the launch announcements
