This presentation will cover new technology directions that we are likely to see in commercial relational databases. It will describe how IBM envisions databases evolving in the area of cloud computing and multi-tenancy. We will discuss NoSQL, and the technologies that are coming in that area. Lastly,we will also describe how data analytics needs are transforming the traditional OLTP/data warehouse architectures in customer enterprises.
Curt Cotner is an IBM Fellow and Vice President. Curt is the chief technology officer for the DB2 family and Informix IDS database servers, and has both management and technology oversight responsibility for all the client software offerings used with DB2 and IDS. This includes the client runtime APIs (JDBC, .NET, CLI, pureQuery, etc.) and the application development and administration tools offerings (Data Studio and Optim tool portfolio).
