IMS database reorganization is essential for maintaining optimal performance and availability of IMS applications. Many IMS administrators face the challenge of determining the right time and method for reorganizing their databases. This presentation explains why reorganization is important, the factors that influence it, and the tools that can help administrators make informed decisions. It also shows how these tools can be used to monitor database health, identify reorganization candidates and execute reorganization jobs. We will also dive into the waters of AI and determine how it can be used to help plan our IMS reorganization.

Most IMS customers have not had to perform a recovery of an IMS database in a long time. What if the unthinkable happened and you had to recover an IMS database or databases? Would you be able to do this quickly and correctly? What would be the impact to the business while the application was unavailable? This session will cover key concepts in developing a good recovery plan, processes to proactively monitor for situations which could affect your recovery plan, how to test and practice recovery on a regular basis, and how to simplify recovery.

CICS and IMS transactions can either be managed by the velocity goals assigned to the regions or managed towards the response time goals assigned to the transactions. WLM management of the regions toward the goals of the transactions is known as WLM server management.
During this presentation Peter Enrico will introduce the concepts of WLM server management, and will provide guidelines to ensure an optional WLM setup for CICS and IMS transaction workloads. Guides and recommendation are a key ingredient of this presentation.
